During World War II the City of York had been damaged through bombing attacks.
A regeneration plan was proposed in 1948, an opportunity to improve the bomb damaged areas, open up streets, create a new road system in and outside the city allowing easier access for transport, and to create recreation areas.
Some of these ideas were carried out, others were not. However, now in 2020, some of the new proposed developments reflect on those 70+ years ago.
